LONDON, UK. – May 29, 2014 – EuroSite Power Inc., (OTCQB: EUSP) an On-Site Utility solution provider, offering clean electricity, heat, hot water and cooling solutions to hospitality, healthcare, housing and leisure centers in the United Kingdom (UK) and Europe, is now operating a 100kW combined heat and power (CHP) system at Dunstable Leisure Centre in Dunstable, UK.
EuroSite Power owns and operates the CHP system, which provides the leisure centre with energy at a guaranteed lower cost than that provided by normal utilities. Having signed a 15-year agreement with EuroSite Power, the leisure centreavoided all capital, installation and operating costs that would normally be associated with a CHP system. The new 100kW CHP system will generate approximately 1.62GWh of total energy per annum while saving up to 194 tonnes of CO2 each year.
Dunstable Leisure Centre is managed by 1Life in partnership with Central Bedfordshire Council. 1Life operates in 52 venues across the UK including the Tiddenfoot Leisure Centre & The Grove Theatre in Bedfordshire.
Steve Bambury, Head of Commercial Operations for 1Life, said: “Working with local councils, 1 Life is committed to inspiring communities to get the most out of life and controlling our costs helps us meet that commitment. With EuroSite Power’s On-Site Utility solution, the Dunstable Centre now only pays for the energy used and avoids all capital, installation, operating and maintenance costs of the CHP system. In addition, the energy produced is priced lower than existing and future utility costs providing immediate and on-going cost savings to the operation. With the operation of an On-Site Utility solution, 1Life is now also contributing to the quality of the environment with the reduction in carbon emissions, which means everyone benefits.”
CHP systems are a cleaner energy option, offering considerable environmental benefits when compared with electricity from the grid and conventional boiler systems. Recognized as a low carbon technology the system will reduce the club’s CO2 emissions which, in turn reduces the impact of taxes such as the Climate Change Levy and CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme.
